The laboratory of Rui Martinho started in 2007 at the IGC-Gulbenkian Institute for Science, being Ana Rita Marques its founding member. In 2012 it moved to the Medical Department of the University of Algarve. In 2018 the lab started a process of moving north into the University of Aveiro although we currently still have part of the lab in Algarve. We have ongoing collaborations with the laboratories of Maria Carmo-Fonseca (IMM, Lisbon, Portugal), Jorg D. Becker and Ivo Telley (IGC, Lisbon, Portugal), Prashanth Rangan (RNA Institute, NY, USA), José Bragança (UAlg, Faro, Portugal), and many others.
