I did my masters’ degree in Biomedical Technology at Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Science (DRDO, New Delhi), where I focused on stem cell biology and gene therapy research. In my previous laboratory, I worked with Prof. Dr. Hemant Malhotra (SMS Medical College, Jaipur) and studied the various causes for drug resistance and therapeutic drug monitoring in the Chronic Myeloid Leukamia (CML) patients. During this stay, I developed an interest on Developmental biology and the way it can be used to better understand human disease. Prof. Dr. Rui Martinho gave me the best opportunity to follow my passion and pursue research in an international environment at the University of Algarve (Portugal).

My current research interest is to better understand the regulation of gene expression during development of multicellular organisms. Most specifically, I am particularly interested in posttranscriptional regulatory mechanisms that increase proteome complexity like alternative pre-mRNA splicing and co-/post-translational modifications. I am using Drosophila melanogaster as our model organisms, and all genes I am currently working are homologous of genes that are known to be involved in the development of cancer and other human pathologies.
